In Hue City, the project “Hue – A Plastic Smart City in Central Vietnam” (hereinafter referred to as TVA project) funded by WWF-Norway through WWF-Vietnam, with Hue City People’s Committee as the executive agency, has been implemented from 2021 to 2024. The overall objective of the Project is to support Hue city in protection of rivers and ecosystems of wetlands and coastal areas from being polluted by plastic waste. Within the framework of the Project, on November 11, 2021, Hue City People’s Committee (CPC) signed a commitment to participate in the WWF’s Plastic Smart Cities Program.

“The Plastic Reduction Journey of Hue City” is a comprehensive documentation of Hue City’s efforts to minimize plastic pollution, fostering a green and sustainable community through research, community initiatives, and environmental policies. The report serves both as a reference and a call to action for collaboration in creating a sustainable city. It analyzes plastic waste sources, their environmental, social, and health impacts, and outlines solutions such as smart waste management systems, awareness campaigns, and plastic reduction programs. The best practices and lessons from Hue City are applicable to other cities nationwide, contributing to broader environmental protection efforts.
