Reusable E-commerce Packaging Pilot Report

WWF-Singapore’s Plastic ACTion (WWF-PACT), with partners UOB, SingPost, and Better Packaging Co., launched a pilot program to promote reusable e-commerce packaging in Singapore, aiming to foster a circular economy. Retailers like Cloversoft, Davines, and others are offering customers the option to choose reusable packaging over single-use disposables. This initiative showcases how Singapore’s developed postal network can support a circular reverse logistics supply chain.

Twelve retailers participated in the initiative, which allowed customers to choose reusable packaging for their online orders. Of the 15,000 orders processed during the pilot, one third of customers opted for the reusable option. This study found that consumer understanding played a significant role in the uptake of the reusable packaging, highlighting the importance of education in promoting its use

This report provides valuable insights into the successful implementation of reusable packaging, serving as a useful resource for retailers and organisations looking to create a more sustainable e-commerce ecosystem in Singapore.
