The project aims to reduce marine plastic pollution through policy reform, public awareness, and practical solutions. Approved by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the project supports Viet Nam’s national action plan on marine plastic waste until 2030. Implemented across 7 cities/districts and 3 marine protected areas, the project emphasizes collaboration among government, businesses, and communities to build scalable, sustainable solutions.
The project focuses on four key areas: Strengthening policy and guidance, Promoting education and behavior change, Developing Plastic Smart City models, and Improving plastic waste management in fisheries and marine protected areas (Con Dao, Cu Lao Cham, Phu Quoc).

This report presents key findings and achievements from the five-year project implemented across 10 provinces and 3 marine protected areas in Viet Nam. It highlights progress on project indicators, local-level insights, and strategic recommendations to reduce marine plastic pollution. Developed by WWF-Viet Nam and VASI with support from the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, the report draws on field surveys, expert interviews, and data analysis.
